Temptation of the Lord

Read the account of the temptation found in Lk 4:1-13. Reflect on the following points:

1) Twice the devil begins his temptation by saying to Jesus: “If you are the son of God…” Apply this to yourself. You have been chosen by God in Christ, called to a particular vocation and mission in life. Hence in the eyes of God, you are ever worthy to be his son/daughter. Now, reflect on what makes you doubt or deny this holy vocation?

2) Reflect also on how the Lord handles the temptations? It may help to recall the saying in Hebrews that goes: He (the Lord) learned obedience from what he suffered. How does this speak to you?

3) End by conversing with the Lord about what moved you in your prayer.
